This is a short film about masquerade in Guyana (and the Caribbean) based on a selection of interviews and reminiscences. Interviewees include Stanley Greaves. The film looks at the history of masquerade and how it has evolved in the Caribbean. It offers insights into some of costumes, musical instruments and dance steps that form part of the performance.
This session continued the Samaan Tree Series, part of the Trust’s online programme. As is customary, we invited comments and questions at the end of the session.
Both the film and the discussion after the screening have been included.
