Our talks this year focus on settlements in Guyana. We began with a look at Stabroek, followed by Georgetown in the early decades of the nineteenth century and then the concept and reality of plantation life. Now we will consider the mythical settlement of El Dorado and the state of mind that it embodies, a state of mind that is arguably as pervasive and enduring as the myth.
The talk will be hosted by Russel Lancaster.
Tea will be provided by Homemade with Love.
We took the difficult decision to cancel this event due to torrential rain and localised flooding on the day it was due to be held. Apologies to our audience.
