This year we have hosted illustrated talks on the theme of settlements, with a look at Stabroek and the early years of Georgetown. This talk continued the theme with a focus on plantations. It considered contemporary accounts of plantations in Essequibo, Demerara and Berbice from 1700 onwards, some of the planters / owners and the enduring impact of the institution on our culture and economy.  

As is customary, Russel Lancaster hosted the talk.
