Ras Michael Jeune

Ras Michael is a writer unlimited by the boundaries of genre and form. He writes with equal facility whether the genre is poetry, investigative journalism or literature.

Ras Michael was born at 322 New Market Street, Georgetown and attended Sacred Heart Roman Catholic School. He had his secondary school education experience at British Guiana Educational Trust College where he spent 18 months before proceeding to take the G.C.E exams. He has worked in the Civil Service and teaching professions but decided to spend his life pursuing a literary career. He has written under contract, columns for the Guyana Chronicle and Stabroek News.

Ras Michael has a parallel career in the theatre as an actor / playwright / director. He has been the guest (representing Guyana) of the Colombian, French and North American governments in literary expositions and theatre. His work has published by Longman and Heinemann of London. He now self-publishes his own work.

Ras Michael has worked in the field of non-profit organisations in the USA as Printing Director of the Women’s Press Collective in New York and also as their Volunteer Coordinator. He has written and published radio drama on national radio stations. He is presently living and working in Guyana.
