Independence through the eyes of Martin Carter and Roy Heath

Event Readings
Host Moray House Trust
Date Thursday 13 June 2019

Many witnessed the moment of independence and the dawn of the Guyanese nation. Few have attempted to analyse it. Writers and poets have an impulse to comment on matters such as nationhood and independence, directly and obliquely. These readings were based on an outstanding if little known book by Roy Heath called A Man Come Home. They included some of Martin Carter’s poems and writings. The readings were performed by Francis Quamina Farrier and Cpt Lloyd Marshall.
Moray House Trust dedicated the event to the late Andaiye, the first Chair of the Board of Trustees.
