At first sight there seems nothing to connect the centre of London, where Wilson
Harris wrote his novels, with the great rivers and rainforests of the interior of Guyana,
where he had been a government surveyor. In a production for radio in 1996,
however, he connected them both, and so much more, in a way that can be
understood as a key to his extraordinary writing.
The audience had a rare opportunity to hear Wilson Harris speak about his work. Michael Mitchell, who was Wilson’s friend and has studied his oeuvre, led the session.
